Staff survey 2012-13 action plan

Since the survey results were published, work has been carried out to identify the main areas for improvement and to develop actions aimed at addressing these specific areas. The main areas identified for improvement relate to workload, work demands and work-related stress, senior management and career development.

A number of initiatives are underway, including:

  • a review of financial recharging mechanisms with the aim of reducing unnecessary internal bureaucracy
  • the introduction of cognitive behavioural therapy sessions for staff
  • a review of the Stress Management Policy to provide clearer guidance and to ensure staff are aware of the range of interventions available
  • improved induction programmes for those taking on senior leadership and management posts
  • an increase in the number of appraisal training sessions for appraisers
  • promotion of CADENZA, the University’s Professional Development Framework for staff teaching and supporting learning
