Registering your vehicle
Registering your vehicle entitles you to cheaper daily parking charges at our Colchester Campus car parks. If you want to park on campus but aren't registered, you will need to pay the full visitor rate.
Please allow two working days for your permit to activate. You can then park your vehicle at the reduced rate.
If you can't apply online, visit the Estate Management Helpdesk to complete a paper form. This will take two working days to process.
Annual registration
If you have registered in previous years, you will need to re-register each academic year.
Parking charges and payment
The annual parking registration fee is 0.25% of your salary, paid in monthly instalments. In addition, one of the following charges also apply:
Annual season ticket
£123 deducted from your salary in monthly instalments.
Daily parking
A daily parking charge of 16p per hour are payable via the ParkSmart App. There is a minimum stay charge of £0.64p.
It is important you sign into the app by selecting Login and 'Single Sign On'. You will be redirected to a University web page and prompted to use your @essex.ac.uk email address. Note: If you have a University email account, you don’t need to create an account.
Out-of-term parking
There are no daily charges out of term time for registered vehicles. Unregistered vehicles must pay the full visitor tariff
