About GCRF@Essex

We have secured three years of funding from Research England to support collaboration and capacity building for Global Challenges Research Funding (GCRF)  research.  From 2018-2021 an annual series of activities has provided funding for:

  • Travel and subsistence costs to support relationship building
  • Activities to pump prime collaborative research
  • Activities that generate or have the potential to generate impact
  • Staff exchanges and visiting fellowships (in both directions) to support capacity and capability building, growing relationships and exchange knowledge
  • Events in the partner country to build networks and partnerships

All GCRF@Essex funded activities must be ODA compliant, meaning they must primarily generate benefit to at least one ODA country, and they must address the GCRF challenge areas and Sustainable Development Goals.  More information is available in our GCRF@Essex guide (.pdf).

All activities are managed and administered by the GCRF Programme Team (gcrf@essex.ac.uk).
Funding for GCRF research projects is provided directly by UK research councils and other delivery bodies.
