Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) and student representatives

The Committees meet once a term and provide a forum for you to give feedback on your experience of the Department, raising concerns or suggestions.

One elected student representative from each year is deputised by the committee to attend, and also to report to the Departmental meeting, which is held twice a term with members of the teaching staff.

Last year, student representatives discussed issues such as plagiarism, anonymous marking of coursework and the Sociology Common Room. In each case the Department either formulated proposals to meet student concerns or took student input into account in reaching decisions.

Representing your voice

The student representatives play an essential role in conveying student needs and opinions within the Department. They act as your voice. You might want to nominate a representative, or consider standing yourself, but it's important we receive your vote.

Next meeting: to be confirmed.
