With the fast growth in technology more and more people choose to shop online.
A massive amount of data is collected in this process which could be analysed to assist decision making, such as how to predict customer demands and schedule them for last-mile delivery.
This project aims to apply deep learning techniques to understand major cost/emission factors of vehicle routing subject to customer choices, so as to proactively adjust pricing to schedule customer demands. Big Data analysis, machine learning and optimisation are key components of this project.
The award consists of a full Home/EU fee waiver or equivalent fee discount for overseas students (further fee details), a doctoral stipend equivalent to the Research Councils UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend (£15,009 in 2019-20), plus £2,500 training bursary via Proficio funding, which may be used to cover the cost of advanced skills training including conference attendance and travel.
