Dr Weizheng Zhang

Biography

Dr Weizheng Zhang is a Lecturer ( Equivalent to Assistant Professor) with research interests in tourism SMEs and its innovation (service and marketing innovation) and tourism-migration topics. He is a mixed-method researcher. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and affiliate member of Centre for Migration Studies at University of Essex. He has published in Tourism Management (ABS 4), a leading journal in tourism research. Before joining the Edge Hotel School, Weizheng successfully defended his PhD in September 2022 in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Surrey (Full-scholarship funded). Weizheng also completed his MSc study (Research in human geography) at the University of Birmingham (UK) and his BSc degree in physical geography at the Northwestern Normal University, China, where he developed his research interests in migration, tourism and hospitality entrepreneurship, and risk and uncertainty. Dr Zhang has previously worked in Hunan Daily News Agency in China (2016-2017) as a journalist and published 48 news reports about regional political and economic affairs, which influenced his research interests in solving socio-economic problems.
