I joined the Catalyst Project at the end of August 2018. The University of Essex Catalyst project (www.essex.ac.uk/research-projects/catalyst ), funded by HEFCE, is a collaboration where teams at the university use their expertise in evaluation methodology and data science to support public services delivered by Essex and Suffolk County Councils aimed at helping vulnerable people .
My key role for the project is communications;
Forming the Catalyst 'identity' and establishing new web pages to reflect the projects work
Coordinating and delivering written materials to promote the work carried out by the project
I am involved in creating the Essex Volunteering Hub a one stop shop designed to bring together students and organisations offering volunteer opportunities.
Previously, I was a Public Engagement and Communications Officer with the Administrative Data Service, the coordinating body of the Administrative Data Research Network (a four year project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council).
The Network enabled academics from Universities cross the UK, access to linked administrative data held by the government for projects designed for public benefit.
Based here at Essex, my work involved:
Initiating and establishing internal communications across the Administrative Data Research Network's four centres in each of the devolved countries of the UK
Identifying targeted areas for the promotion of the Administrative Data Research Network (ADRN), particularly in support of the Government's Data Acquisition strategy
Building awareness and fostering confidence in the Network amongst key stakeholders and particularly public audiences
Identifying, planning and organising external events to raise the profile of the ADRN
Writing web content and communications materials for the Network
Over the past 10 years I have worked with academics, researchers, government departments, statistics authorities learning good communication, public engagement and event management skills through different projects at the UK Data Service.
I have received training in: talking to the media, crisis communications, stakeholder facilitation, web strategy, User Experience, web writing, lean working and presenting.
