Profile
- Trust and Trustworthiness, Betrayal and Relationship Repair for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
Biography
I have an MSc in Teaching Mindfulness from Bangor University and have been teaching MBSR and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction/Cognitive Therapy) since 2010. I have also been a yoga teacher since 2001. In 2014 I discovered that I have Dissociative Amnesia as a result of extreme Childhood Sexual Abuse. I undertook to work with this through EMDR, Psychotherapy, Trauma sensitive Mindfulness, Yoga and Cranio-Sacral Therapy. I no longer experience the extreme dread, anxiety or fear that use to drive coping mechanisms which, while helpful in the short term, did not contribute to my longer term stability or contentment. I am now PTSD free. My research is situated within the "Mad Studies", autoethnographic, Survivor informed domain. I seek to build bridges between empirical research, and the validity of lived-experience.
