Dr Laura Montanaro

Biography

Laura Montanaro is Senior Lecturer in Political Theory in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. She works on normative democratic theory. Her interests are driven by the gaps between democracy’s norms and outcomes, particularly equality and practices that might counteract inequality. Prior to joining the department, she was a Harper Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows at the University of Chicago. Her first book, Who Elected Oxfam? was published with Cambridge University Press and was a finalist for the C.B. Macpherson best first book prize. She has published in The American Journal of Political Science and the Journal of Politics.
