Damian obtained his BEng in Computer Science at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (Poland). He gained substantial work experience in the industry while working as a Software Developer (2013-2020). In 2018 he returned to academia and obtained his MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Essex, where he worked on decomposition methods for neural signals, under the supervision of Dr Ana Matran-Fernandez and Prof. Luca Citi. He is now a Computer Science PhD student, jointly under CSEE and MiSoC (ISER), working at the intersection of machine learning and causality with Dr Spyros Samothrakis and Prof. Paul Clarke, with a particular emphasis on the methods of causal discovery from observational data and their application to economic and social sciences.
