Biography

The Deputy Registrar (Education & Research) is a new role at Essex which Fraser took up in the autumn of 2022. Reporting to the Registrar and Secretary, Fraser is responsible for the leadership of Education and Research operations as it supports institutional strategy delivery. The Academic Section, the Research and Enterprise Office (REO) plus Library and Cultural Services all fall in his portfolio. He also works closely with Essex Students Union. Prior to Essex, Fraser worked at Birkbeck, University of London, City University London, The Open University and the University of St Andrews. He is also a Member of Court for Abertay University where he sits on the Audit and Risk Committee. A native of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Fraser was the first in his family to go to university and has retained a life-long passion for making accessible and enhancing the student experience. He is married with two children and a dog called Roxy.
