Biography

Dr. Eden Sarid is a senior lecturer at Essex Law School. His research and teaching interests include intellectual property, land law, law and technology, and cultural heritage law. Dr. Sarid's current research focuses on creative subcultures that deviate from traditional intellectual property models; queer analysis of intellectual property and private law doctrines; and artificial intelligence and its impact on administrative decision making. Dr. Sarid received his SJD from the University of Toronto, where he was a Vanier Canada Scholar. He received his LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science with distinction, as a Chevening Scholar. He received his LLB and BA from the Hebrew University as a graduate of the University's Honours Program for exceptional students (top-5% university-wide). Dr. Sarid’s academic and advocacy work are committed to the public interest. Dr. Sarid participated in consultations to various organisations and policy-makers including the UK's IP Office, the European IP Office, the Canadian Copyright Board, and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. Before entering academia, Dr. Sarid served as a senior law clerk to the Hon. Justice Elyakim Rubinstein and Hon. Justice Zvi Zylbertal of the Israeli Supreme Court, practiced as an associate in the IP department of one of Israel’s leading law firms, and was a member of Israel Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Board.
