Our six iconic Towers always have been and still are, the heart and soul of our Colchester Campus and a local landmark.
With everything on your doorstep, you can roll out of bed and still be on time for lectures.
A real sociable atmosphere, the Towers offers a great sense of community where you can hang out with friends and feel the buzz of people sharing a flat together.
The Towers are just a two-minute walk to the centre of campus. The North Towers, Rayleigh, Keynes, Tawney, and William Morris are located near Essex Business School and the South Towers, Bertrand Russell and Eddington are close to the Sports Centre and the Students' Union facilities.
Each tower is made up of flats to accommodate 14 to 16 students. The number and size of the facilities, such as rooms, showers and toilets, within each flat, can vary:
There are some smaller flats at either the top or the bottom of each tower, each accommodating between three and seven students and there are some self-contained apartments.
Exciting News! Work began December 2019 on refurbishing the second of our South Tower accommodation buildings. The new, modern accommodation is part of our long-term maintenance programme and is due for completion by the summer of 2021.
"William Morris is the cheapest accommodation available to postgraduates and it's also close to the main campus. For me, one of the best things about it is that I got to meet so many people from different countries. We're 14 people in the flat and we have absolutely different interests, which makes for some very interesting discussions. I also love cooking together with my flatmates; it's a unique opportunity to try new kinds of foods and learn about the other person's culture."
