An essential start to your academic life at the University of Essex
Induction to your new academic department is an essential part of Welcome week.
Your department induction is a compulsory part of Welcome Week.
Come and find out more about your course, meet key members of staff like your personal tutor, and meet the people you’re going to be studying with.
Studying more than one subject? If you're studying a joint degree, you should access key support through your home department. If you're not sure which is your home department, you can find out on MyEssex.
All of us in the Department of Psychology are really looking forward to meeting you when you join us in October – we have a host of events planned that we hope will offer you the chance to get to know us, the department and other students.
To help you get to know the department and what to expect from your course you will have a Welcome talk from our year tutors during our department induction event, followed by a meeting with your personal tutor. Later in the week there will be an introduction to the Library and also an opportunity to talk with existing students to find out about all the things they wish they’d known about when starting at Essex
We also want you to get to know each other! Look out for further details of our fun quiz and also our Department of Psychology bring-your-own picnic to be held on the grass slopes next to the department (of course, this will be weather dependant).
Our departmental induction will be held virtually, online. More information about how to access the online welcome portal will be sent to you by email in the weeks before arrival day.
Please contact us at the Student Services Hub, your gateway to student information services at the University of Essex for any additional help and support.
