Just as many local authorities were launching or preparing to launch their social prescribing schemes, social distancing threatens to derail the nation’s anti-loneliness initiatives.

Loneliness in Lockdown

In January 2019, the UK Government committed millions of pounds to ending loneliness by rolling out the social prescribing model of person-centred health and social care; a model through which an individual could be prescribed non-clinical, practical and emotional support within their own community.

So what effect is social distancing having on that? Join Dr Gina Yannitell Reinhardt as she presents first-cut analysis of a survey that has already questioned people about social prescribing, COVID-19 and loneliness in lockdown.

This live webinar will be hosted by Dr Gina Yannitell Reinhardt from the Department of Government. The event will run from 12:30pm until 1:30pm on Wednesday 3 June via Zoom.

This event is part of the Essex Social Science on COVID-19 webinar series and is organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences. The webinar is open to the public and completely free of charge. To register your place and join the webinar, book your place via Zoom:
