This History Research Seminar meets on Wednesday afternoons during term time to discuss a paper by a visiting historian or a member of our academic staff.
This week's speaker is University of Oxford Professor of English, Professor Peter McCullough.
Peter's research over the past decade has been dominated by work on the sixteen-volume Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne, of which he is General Editor. He has edited one of the first volumes to appear (Donne's early Jacobean court sermons), establishing texts from comparison of all print and manuscript witnesses, and writing detailed commentary on each sermon. He will also be editing a volume of Donne's sermons preached at St Paul's cathedral, and, in his capacity as General Editor, overseeing the volumes prepared by other contributing editors .
