Natural Language and Information Processing

Natural language processing has been a key area of research for more than 40 years at the University of Essex and much of this work is being conducted as part of our Natural Language and Information Processing group, as well as the interdisciplinary Language and Computation group.

Our work is based on three main pillars: natural language processing, information and image retrieval and formal semantics as well as their intersections. We organise regular events including the annual Language and Computation Day and the weekly Language and Computation Seminars.

Along with their research on natural language processing some of our academics are also members of the Brain-Computer Interfaces and Neural Engineering research group.
