Citispotter

We caught up with Pallav Sethiya, CEO and Co-Founder of Citispotter, to find out more about their business plans and their work with Angels@Essex. Citispotter received funding from the University Enterprise Zone following a competitive pitching process and have continued to generate investment interest on the Angels@Essex platform.

Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?

Citispotter area Cambridge-based start-up developing AI and end-to-end content solutions for businesses. Our proprietary integrated content analysis engine helps businesses reduce harmful content in their communication channels and optimise emotional engagement. Our software uses insights from Citispotter’s in-house developed algorithm to analyse over eleven AI signals and prioritise the most critical quality issues in the content.

How did the Angels@Essex team help you?

From our first interactions they were extremely helpful. Very quickly they had set up a profile on the Essex platform to attract investors. They showed great confidence in our work by choosing us to present to the investment panel in the UEZ competition. Prior to this, they also supported us with preparing our pitch deck, and held dedicated sessions to help us improve each slide.

Have you attended any of our Space to Grow webinars?

Yes, I did. I attended Peter Harrup’s session from BDO on SEIS/EIS funding, and it was very useful as we were applying for SEIS Advance Assurance at that time. It was clear and concise but also comprehensive, covering all aspects of registration for SEIS.

How did your business benefit from using the University of Essex?

It helped us prepare to present to investors, as we’d already had various sessions with the Maxwell Centre - University of Cambridge. Moving forward, we see the University of Essex as a strong ecosystem of support, able to introduce us to various industry services and research and development. We plan to utilise the Essex ecosystem, with its human resource capital and connections, to make our business stronger.

Would you recommend the University services to others?

Of course! It is a plethora of resources and I would encourage anyone to seek the benefits of it.

What are your future plans? Where is the business heading?

Following our success in the UEZ competition, we have been working with Samsung and Accenture. They have provided us with mentoring and are currently helping us shape our strategy and clarify our messaging. On the Angels at Essex platform, we are continuing to generate a lot of interest from investors. Our future plans include raising the pre-seed investment, complete paid Proof of Concepts with industry, and we plan to launch our beta release within the next 3-6 months.
