New businesses need guidance from experts to help them grow

Space to grow is a fully-funded programme of support to both entrepreneurs and investors to encourage investment to seed innovative businesses which demonstrate:

  • the potential for sustainable growth
  • potential to employ a highly skilled workforce
  • a benefit the local Essex economy

The programme aims to provide entrepreneurs with a combination of business skills to enhance their ability to build an investment pitch deck that is attractive to would-be investors. Participants also receive guidance on the investment process - which is applicable to both investors and entrepreneurs alike - including a resource library, updates on industry topics, and access to a programme of informative webinars.

Programme leaders 

The Space to grow programme's Business Support Manager is John Stenhouse FIOEE, a lifelong Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs with many years’ experience of business support gained in a professional capacity, as well as a serial entrepreneur and investor himself. John believes that innovative businesses create more economic benefit and are the cornerstone of the future UK’s growth potential.

As the programme's Business Support Coordinator, Josh Clarke has developed significant experience working on a variety of projects with a strong understanding of the importance of building positive relationships with external stakeholders. The experience that Josh has gained from starting up a business himself and successfully pitching for private investment adds particular value to his involvement with the programme, backed by a strong understanding of what may appeal to investors.
