I have over 10 years of professional experience across operations, customer service, and data-focused roles. My background is in Information Technology, and I have worked across frontline service delivery and operational support functions, where I was involved in reporting, process improvement, and supporting organisational change initiatives. I am particularly interested in how data, digital tools, and emerging technologies such as AI can be integrated into organisations in a way that supports people, improves service delivery, and drives sustainable performance. Through my MBA, I am building on this experience to transition into roles focused on change management, transformation, and technology-enabled service improvement.
Through my varied professional experience, I observed that many organisational challenges were not technical, but centred on people, processes, and leadership during periods of change. This has become even more apparent with the rapid rise of AI and digital tools, where many organisations are uncertain not about the technology itself, but about how to adopt it responsibly, prepare their people, and integrate it into existing ways of working. I was often involved in supporting or adapting to these changes at an operational level, which prompted me to pursue an MBA to strengthen my strategic, leadership, and change management skills. The MBA equips me to move from implementation support into leading technology-enabled transformation with clarity and confidence.
The most important factors influencing my decision to choose Essex Business School were its strong emphasis on responsible management, practical application, and diversity of perspectives. The Essex MBA’s focus on real-world consulting projects, experiential learning, and critical thinking aligned closely with my goal of developing the skills needed to lead organisational and technology-driven change. I was also drawn to the school’s inclusive and international learning environment, which reflects the global and cross-cultural contexts in which modern organisations operate. Finally, the flexibility of the programme and its strong reputation for academic rigour made Essex an ideal fit for both my professional background and future career ambitions.
The AMBA accreditation represents a globally recognised standard of quality, relevance, and rigour in MBA education. For me, it signals that the Essex MBA is not only academically strong but, also aligned with the real expectations of employers and global organisations. Knowing that The Essex MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) thus making Essex Business School among the top 2% of business schools in the world gave me confidence that the programme would deliver a credible, internationally respected qualification. This factor did also influence my decision, particularly as I intend to build a career that may span different sectors and geographies, where a globally recognised MBA provides both professional assurance and long-term value.
Scholarships and financial support were an important factor in my decision, as undertaking an MBA represents a significant investment. Receiving a substantial Dean’s Award made the programme financially viable and allowed me to focus fully on my academic and professional development.
The transition to the UK was both exciting and challenging, especially in the early weeks as I adjusted to a new academic system, culture, and way of life. Simple things like navigating everyday routines, understanding academic expectations, and settling into a new environment took time. However, the welcoming and supportive community at the University of Essex, along with the diversity of fellow international students, made the adjustment much easier. Over time, I became more confident both academically and personally, and the experience has helped me grow in independence, adaptability, and resilience. Overall, moving to the UK has been a rewarding learning experience that has strengthened my confidence in working and studying in an international setting.
My top three modules of The Essex MBA are Strategic Management, Sustainable Operations, and Data Analytics.
Together, these modules strongly align with my interest in change management and technology-enabled improvement.
One of my favourite aspects of life at Essex is the campus atmosphere and the sense of routine it offers. I really enjoy having everything within walking distance, which makes day-to-day life feel balanced and manageable. Going to the gym on campus has become part of my regular routine and has been important for maintaining both my physical wellbeing and mental focus alongside my studies. I also value the green spaces and calm environment, which provide a welcome contrast to the intensity of MBA coursework. As an international student, the friendly and diverse community has made the campus feel welcoming and supportive, allowing me to settle in quickly and feel at home while studying. Overall, life at Essex has offered a healthy balance between academic challenge, wellbeing, and a strong sense of community.
I hope the MBA will shape my career by equipping me with the strategic, analytical, and leadership skills needed to move into roles focused on organisational transformation and change. The programme has helped me shift from an operational mindset to a more strategic perspective, enabling me to understand how decisions are made at an organisational level and how data, processes, and people interact. In particular, the MBA is preparing me to support organisations as they navigate digital and AI-enabled change in a structured and responsible way.
Overall, the MBA is giving me the confidence, frameworks, and practical experience to progress into roles where I can lead and manage complex change with impact.
