Swiss Laundry, part of Swiss Camplings, has shown its commitment to supporting the next generation of hospitality professionals by sponsoring prizes for students from Edge Hotel School, the first hotel school of its kind in the UK.

Playing a vital role behind the scenes at the on-campus Wivenhoe House Hotel, Swiss Laundry provides essential services, such as laundering staff uniforms and bed linens, to keep the four-star hotel running to the highest standards.

Celebrating excellence

Personally congratulating the winners, Richard Biddulph from Swiss Laundry awarded the four prizes during our Graduation ceremonies in July.

  • Fernando Odio – Swiss Laundry Prize for Highest Mark of the Year, recognising outstanding academic achievement.
  • Ruby White – Swiss Laundry Prize for Most Improved Student, celebrating remarkable progress throughout the course.
  • Astha Aziz – Swiss Laundry Prize for Best Performance in Wivenhoe House Hotel, showcasing exceptional practical skills in a real-world hospitality setting.
  • Laura Kebell – Swiss Laundry Prize for Industry Project of the Year, awarded for an innovative, industry-focused project.

These awards reflect the Edge Hotel School’s unique strength: blending academic theory with hands-on experience through placements at Wivenhoe House Hotel, connecting students with the hospitality industry from day one. These graduates are now out in the world, building careers on the strong foundation they developed at Essex.

A growing partnership

Thank you to Swiss Laundry for their continued support. What began as a business-to-business relationship has grown into something much more meaningful. Social value sponsorship matters to us because it helps us to build stronger partnerships with organisations that share our values, invest in future leaders, and connect education with industry.
