Coastal challenge
From Cromer to Canvey, Head of Biological Sciences
Professor
Jules Pretty is embarking on an East Anglia coast walk.
Professor Pretty started at Purfleet under the M25 Dartford Bridge on
Friday 24 August 24 and over a fortnight will be walking 300 miles around
Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk exploring the environment and talking to people
involved with related projects.
The walk will form the basis for a new book which develops many of the
themes of connection and disconnection with nature picked up in his recent
publication,
The Earth Only Endures.
The total coastline and tidal estuary length is about 600 miles.
Professor Pretty will cut across the mouths of some estuaries and inlets
by boat to half the distance.
