The University recently hosted three visitors to
assist with the proposed formation of a Centre for Trauma, Asylum and Refugees.

Professor Richard Mollica, director and founder of the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (HPRT), Mary Petevi, international consultant who held key positions in WHO and UNHCR in relation to the mental health of refugees, and Dr Aida Kapetanovic director of the HPRT Bosnia programme in Sarajevo were the guests of Professor Renos Papadopoulos, director of the MA/PhD in Refugee Care in the Centre fro Psychoanalytic Studies.

The Centre is intended to provide a forum for individuals, including University staff, and organisations in this country and abroad to exchange knowledge and experiences and develop further their work in the field of mental health of refugees which includes a strong social component.

The visitors met with Professor Rob Massara, and Professor Joan Busfield, as well as with Professor Karl Figlio, Dr Roderick Main, Dr Rob Stones, and Dr Andrew Fagan.
