Graduation celebrations for
Health and Human Sciences student
Dr Mary Kennedy became the first student to graduate with
a Professional Doctorate in health and social care at the University's
recent graduation ceremonies.
Mary
becomes a Doctor of Nursing, a title which recognises the significance of
nursing in contemporary health care, locally, nationally and
internationally.
The Professional Doctorate title was introduced in 2001 to encompass
professional practice alongside research at doctoral level. Mary’s thesis,
on managing continence in mental health settings, sheds light upon this
important but under-resourced and often forgotten area of practice.
