Edinburgh Fringe Award winner Patrice Naiambana opens an exciting African Arts season at the Lakeside Theatre this month.

To launch an eclectic month-long celebration, Royal Shakespeare Company actor, Patrice Naiambana performs The Man Who Committed Thought, his solo show which won as Edinburgh Fringe First Award, on Saturday 6 October at the Colchester Campus.

Theatre manager Pasco Q Kevlin said: 'I am thrilled to be playing a role in promoting the first Black History month in the Colchester area, celebrating cultural diversity in our region.'

Sophie Ellis BexterThis term sees world famous DJs and chart-topping pop stars visit the Colchester Campus as part of the Students’ Union’s biggest ever entertainment line-up.

On Monday 8 October pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor comes to Essex for an exclusive live performance and on Saturday, 13 October, Sub Zero welcomes influential DJ Paul Oakenfold.

Further highlights include a DJ set from one of the UK’s biggest bands, Razorlight, on Saturday 27 October, a night of garage heaven with DJ Luck + MC Neat and MJ Cole on Saturday 10 November and a multi-venue live music spectacular in support of the Love Music, Hate Racism campaign.

The line-up includes the popular Comedy Club every other Tuesday and a new Cabaret Club, showcasing everything from mind-readers to men regurgitating goldfish!
