Student photo in London show
An MA student from the Department of Art History and
Theory will see one of her photos displayed in London this month in a
national exhibition to highlight the talents of disabled artists in the
UK.
Jean Akam’s work, Red Hibiscus will be one of about 20 works
that will go on show on 21 March in the private show at ICI’s head office
in London’s West End. After a year at ICI, if the art works are not sold,
the exhibition might go on tour around the UK.

Red Hibiscus by Jean Akam
Jean, who has had ME for the past 16 years, said: ‘It is an exciting
time for me to know that so many national and international visitors to
ICI’s head office will see my work. It is a prestigious annual event and I
feel very proud to have won a place in the exhibition with my photograph.’
The competition is organised by the London Arts Disability Forum in
conjunction with ICI.
