Vice-Chancellor Professor Ivor Crewe presented the certificates at the
Centre's Annual Awards Ceremony at Wivenhoe House.
Awards included Certificates in Continuing Education and Certificates
in Higher Education, for which students have accumulated credits by
studying a range of ten and 20-week daytime or evening courses over a two
to six-year period.
Certificates in Psychology and British Archaeology were also awarded,
following completion of two-year part-time courses.
Courses are held at the Centre and at locations around Essex and South
Suffolk, and the ages of participants vary widely, with the oldest

New appointment for Dan
Dan Tilley, Assistant Director of Sport at the Sports
Centre, has been appointed manager of the British Universities Men's
Hockey Team. The British Universities Team is a representative team that
selects the best players from across all British universities. The side
recently played the Irish Universities Team defeating them 2-1 in the inaugural
Carson Clarke Trophy. Dan is hoping to take the team out to South Africa
in September to compete in the International Students Hockey Tournament.
Dan, who currently coaches the University of Essex men's and women's
hockey teams, has been managing the English Universities Representative
Side for the past two years. This team competes against Scottish, Irish
and Welsh Universities in the British University Games, which takes place
in March every year. Dan is hoping to take the English side to a third
consecutive gold medal this year.
