WaLT offers a range of support and training, including group courses, individual consultation and troubleshooting, support for the Web Authors' Group, advice for departments and sections on web projects, and comprehensive online guidance for web authors. The following courses are currently available for University web authors:
You can find full details of these courses at www.essex.ac.uk/wag/training.htm The Web and Learning Technology Manager, Keith Brooke, would be interested to hear of any other requirements or suggestions for web-related training for University staff. See also:
Members of WaLT work closely with web authors around the University, providing individual help, answering questions, solving web-related problems and providing advice on the development of web pages. See the WaLT staff page for contact details. It may help if you check our online support pages, including the frequently asked questions page, first. The Web Authors' Group was created to improve communication and cooperation between those working on web pages around the University. The main WAG forum is a mailing list, used by WaLT to spread useful web-related information and also for occasional discussions between web authors. WAG also meets once or twice a year for a half-day training event, featuring a range of presentations and discussions. Full details of WAG, including information about past WAG training events, can be found on the Web Authors' Group information page. WaLT provides advice and consultancy on web projects around the University, from their inception, through development, to a project's launch and afterwards. WaLT can also take on a more active web development role - see the WaLT services page for more information.
Since 1998 we have built up a comprehensive set of online support materials for web authors, covering web design, working with search engines, editing access to University websites, corporate identity on the web, useful links, FrontPage techniques and more. |
