Web Authors' Group

The University's Web Authors' Group was launched in May 1999 with a half-day event at Wivenhoe House Hotel and Conference Centre. Several similar meetings have taken place since then.

WAG provides:

  • support and guidance for, and representation of, the interests of University web authors
  • a forum for discussion of common problems, concerns and experiences of those responsible for web pages at the University
  • a channel for communication between web authors, Web and Learning Technology and the University's Web Steering Group

Operation of WAG

  • principal means of communication by e-mail discussion list: to send a message to the mailing list, just use the address webgroup@essex.ac.uk
  • WAG website, featuring guidelines and support materials
  • occasional meetings

Membership of WAG

Membership of WAG is open to a wide range of individuals:

  • nominated web representatives from each academic department, administrative section and other selected centres and groups
  • anyone who maintains official University web pages
  • members of staff who want to develop their skills in order to provide on-line teaching and learning materials and other resources for their students and colleagues

How to join WAG

To join the WAG e-mail list you should use the Local mailing lists page (access restricted to members of the University only): the WAG mailing list is a subscription list labelled 'webgroup - Webpage maintainers on campus'.
