Marian de Vooght teaches the module ‘Rule and Resistance: political themes in literature and film’ in the Department of Government and has taught translation studies in the Department of Literature and Film Studies. She specialized in Comparative Literature, Literary Translation and Language Teaching. Her publications include articles on cultural regimes and the reception of literature. She further published poetry and drama translations and two language-teaching books. Current research interests involve political discourse in literature and language politics. In relation to transitional justice, she is interested in works of African literature that give a perspective on or a voice to child soldiers. A particular focus is the role of language and choice of form as means of survival in the process from a war to a non-war state.
