Lorna McGregor joined the School of Law in October 2010. She is a Senior Lecturer, Director of the LLM in International Human Rights Law and Co-Director of the Detention, Rights and Social Justice Programme. Her current research is focused on the legitimacy, legality and treatment in detention under international law; trafficking in human beings; the right and systems of access to justice under international law, including transitional justice; human rights in Europe; and equality and non-discrimination. In addition to her academic research, Lorna is a Co-Chair of the American Society of International Law’s Interest Group on Transitional Justice, a member of REDRESS’ Legal Advisory Council and a trustee of the AIRE Centre. Examples of recent practice include advising the Equalities and Human Rights Commission on its Human Rights Review together with Professor Maurice Sunkin and acting as an independent expert at the UN Intergovernmental Expert Meeting on the review of the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners in Argentina in December 2012.
