Frances Millard has long-standing interests in communist and post-communist politics, including processes of democratization and the embedding of human rights. She teaches a comparative module on Human Rights in Post-Communist Democracies (including issues of lustration and transitional justice). Her current research projects include a study of obstacles to transitional justice as reflected in the trials of the Polish Generals, Jaruzelski and Kiszczak.
