Anthony Vickers is a Reader in Physics within the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. He is also one of the UK Bologna Experts. He has undertaken research in the area of physics for over 25 years. His specialist areas are high speed lasers and terahertz science and technology. Through his work as a Bologna Expert he has worked in many countries within the European Higher Education Area undertaking Institutional evaluations on topics such as credit frameworks, quality assurance, learning outcomes, diploma supplements. He was the Chair of a team that undertook a review of the Tempus programme in the Russian Federation which involved visiting 21 Institutions in the Russian Federation. He has also worked for the bodies such as the Council of Europe in Moldova, and the OSCE in Kosovo, always with a brief of University development. His interest in the area of transitional justice is in any scientific aspects and in the role of universities within transitional justice and in particular the relationship between academic freedom and the transition to broad social justice.
