The Essex Transitional Justice Network 2010 international conference, “Shaping the future of Transitional Justice: growing synergies between theory and practice”, took place in Colchester Town Hall on September 16-17. The conference was hugely successful bringing more than 60 key scholars and practitioners from around the world in the different areas in which the Network works.
The Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof. Colin Riordan, opened the event and highlighted the importance of transitional justice for peace and justice. The different discussions provided a unique opportunity for advancing understandings of transitional justice, bridging gaps between different disciplines as well as between theory and practice. It also achieved one of its main objectives of identifying areas in need of more research on which the Network along with partners will focus. The conference was hugely successful and we would like to thank everyone who contributed to this. The findings of the conference are included in the report below.
