Course materials Repository (CMR)
The CMR provides a link to
materials for your course as well as module outlines, online reading lists,
Listen Again
recordings and past exam papers.
mySkills
mySkills is an academic skills
website which offers interactive advice and guidance that has been authored by
academic and support staff with relevant expertise. The resources will form an
integral part of your academic development and will help you to acquire the
skills that are crucial to achieving academic success at Essex, whilst also
improving your employability.
Departmental student support
The University policy for departmental student support ensures that every
student has a named adviser. More details of how this will work for you will be
available in your departmental
student handbook. You can approach your adviser for support and they will be
able to direct you to the appropriate contact or service, amongst the wide range
of academic and non-academic support services available.
Disability and Dyslexia
Support for students with specific learning difficulties is coordinated by
the disability service
in Student Support. Contact us for further information or details about
our need.
The University Skills Centre (USC)
The USC provides courses, credit modules, workshops and one-to-one
advice free of charge to students of the University on a raneg of skills
including academic literacy, numeracy, English language, employability and
computer and IT.

English Language Support
The USC manages the English
assessment for students whose first language is not English and provide English
Language support.
Numeracy
The
IA080 module (non-credit) covers basic numeracy and mathematical skills
required in a number of first year of courses. The syllabus covers the number
work, statistics, approximation, linear equations and graph work. The
module runs at the Colchester Campus in the Autumn Term and will be of
particular interest to students taking courses in Economics, Biological
Sciences, Essex Business School, Psychology, School of Computer Science and
Electronic Engineering and Sports Science.
Employability
The USC
offers two credit bearing Employability Modules,
IA700 Professional Skills Development and
IA701 Learning from Work.
