When To Arrive:
There will be approximately 300 participants arriving for both Session 1 and Session 2 and 150 for session 3.
Please make your travel arrangements to ensure that you arrive in time to settle into your accommodation and register at the Summer School office before 16.00 on Sunday to allow us time to provide you with course material and computer access details before the office closes at 17.00. We cannot guarantee that late arrivals will be processed in time to start courses on Monday.

What To Do On Arrival
Participants who have booked on-campus accommodation must first collect the key to their room from Conference Reception (VB1, behind sports centre) and check into your accommodation. Conference Reception is open 09.00-20.00 daily. If you arrive after 20.00 your key will be left at the Information Centre which is open 24 hours daily.
Car Parking
You will need a permit to park in the university car parks. Please ask for a permit from the Conference Reception on your arrival.
Summer School Office Location
The Summer School office is situated in room 5.300 (enter the building from either square 4 or square 2) and follow the RED SIGNS marked "Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis".
After settling into your accommodation, please make your way to the Summer School Office for registration. The office will be open from 10.00-17.00 Saturdays and Sundays for registration.
It is essential to collect your registration materials (timetable, computing password, course material etc). N.B. These will only be given to you on receipt of full payment.
Payment
Any outstanding balance must be paid (in Sterling) on arrival. The Summer School will be unable to register you until full payment has been received.
Travelling to the University
How To Get to the University of Essex

By Air:
Stansted (London's third international airport and the closest airport to the University) is 50 minutes away from Colchester and there is a regular X22 airport coachlink service via Colchester to the University. This takes approx. 85 minutes and runs every 2 hrs. (Return ticket from Stansted to the University is £18.00)

By Rail:
There are frequent InterCity services between London Liverpool Street taking 50 minutes. For more details see the National Rail travel planner.
By Road:
There is good access to Colchester from all parts of the country via the A12, M25, and A14. For more details use the AA route planner. A campus parking pass can be collected from the summer school office on arrival.
By Sea:
Colchester is only 30 minutes from Harwich International Port. Passenger services from Harwich are operated by Stena Line to and from the Hook of Holland, and DFDS Seaways to and from Esbjerg in Denmark and Hamburg in Germany.
