University of Essex Study Abroad Office

Study Abroad Office

The main features of the Study Abroad programme are:

  • Students are fully integrated into the academic and social life of the University and follow the same courses as students taking University of Essex degrees.
  • Most of the courses taken by regular undergraduates are also available to Study Abroad students.
  • Study Abroad students are assessed on the same basis as students studying for degrees.
  • At the end of the period of study an American-style transcript is issued to each student and his/her home university.
  • University-owned single occupancy study-bedrooms on the University campus and fully integrated socially with other students are guaranteed to all Study Abroad students.

Students taking these programmes are admitted by the Study Abroad Office (and at Essex are known as Study Abroad students).
