Facilities

We provide you with the facilities you need to make the most of your studies at Essex. This includes award-winning lecture halls, state-of-the-art laboratories, a library with more than one million books, outstanding IT facilities and opportunities to improve your English language ability or learn a new foreign language.

If you are studying a science subject, then you will be mostly taught through lectures, classes and laboratory sessions. There will be extensive practical work if you are undertaking research for computing, health studies or psychology.

If you are studying a non-science subject, then your teaching mainly takes the form of lectures and classes, the latter involving about twenty students. If you are taking any language classes, then this will involve language laboratory sessions.
