Admissions answers for UK applicants

What are your entry requirements for me?

We have a general entrance requirement described in terms of A-levels and other qualifications that we regard as equivalent. Our typical offer for each course is shown on our course finder [link], which you can use to find the course that is right for you!

Our offers are generally expressed as three A-level grades although, for some courses, we show UCAS tariff points (to include two A-levels). We may specify that you must achieve a particular grade or mark in a specific A-level or equivalent subject(s) and, for some of our subjects, you must achieve a specific minimum grade in a subject taken at GCSE level or equivalent. We also accept A-level General Studies or A-level Critical Thinking as one of your three A-levels. All of this is shown on our course finder [link].

I am not taking A-levels, so what offer will I get?

If you are not taking A-levels, you will receive an offer that is the equivalent to our typical A-level offer for the particular qualification you are taking. We welcome applications from those taking the International Baccalaureate, BTEC National and Higher National qualifications, QAA-approved Access to HE Diplomas and some Level 3 Advanced Diplomas. We are always happy to give you detailed advice about whether your qualification is acceptable for the course you are interested in and about the level of achievement you need to demonstrate to secure a place.

I am re-taking some of my exams. How can you help me?

If you are re-taking some or all of your examinations, we will be pleased to consider your application, but may ask you to achieve higher grades.

I am not applying directly from school. How can you help me?

If you are not applying directly from school or college then you need to show recent evidence of your ability to undertake degree-level work and the necessary study skills. Where there are course requirements, you will be asked to demonstrate an equivalent knowledge of the subject. We will also ask you to provide an academic reference from someone who is able to give a professional opinion based on recent knowledge about your ability to study at degree level.

If you have not had any formal education for a period of time you may need to undertake a preparatory course before joining us. The following are qualifications we normally consider as a basis for the admission of applicants with non-standard qualifications: BTEC qualifications, Level 3 Advanced Diplomas, QAA-approved Access to HE Diplomas, Open University courses; practising professional qualifications, and continuing education qualifications bearing appropriate validated higher education credits.
