What happens after you apply?
How is my application dealt with?
When your application arrives to us from UCAS, it will be considered by
the relevant academic selector(s). If you are based in the UK at the time of
application, you may be invited to attend an interview before receiving an
offer; this depends on the admissions policy of our individual
school, department or centre. Alternatively, you may be offered a place
without an interview. In this case, we will invite you to come to us for an
organised visit day.
What is a visit day?
Our visit days take place on Wednesday afternoons from November to April
and give you a chance to meet members of our staff and students, ask
questions and have a look around our University. If you live outside the UK,
we would not normally invite you to visit because of the length and cost of
the journey involved but if you would like to come, we will warmly welcome
you. To request an invitation, please
e-mail us.
How do I find out if I have been offered a place?
UCAS will send you official notification of our decision on your place
and we will also inform you of our decision. If your application is
unsuccessful and you would like feedback, please contact our Undergraduate
Admissions Office by e-mail.
How do I accept my place?
UCAS will give you the option to accept one offer as your firm (first)
choice and one offer as your insurance (second) choice. You do not need to
contact us directly with your decision – we will be told this by UCAS – but
if you have any queries before you make your final decision,
please contact
us.
What happens when I get my results?
If your offer is conditional on your examination results, and you meet
these conditions, we will confirm your place. If your results do not quite
meet your conditions, we may still confirm your place but this is subject to
the discretion of our selector and the availability of places. You will be
notified of our decision through UCAS.
Please do not wait until your results are published before telling us
about of any special factors affecting your examination performance which
you wish us to take into account.
