Virtual tours and videos

image of a virtual tour

Our 360 degree virtual tours and videos help you to explore our Colchester and Southend Campuses from the comfort of your home. Check out our accommodation options, facilities and social spaces.

If you've made an application to us you'll be invited to attend an Applicant Day. Your invite will be sent through the post, so keep an eye out for it! Our Applicant Days are departmental focused events, providing the opportunity to meet your department and discover your course in more detail before making your final decision through UCAS.

Your Applicant Day could either be at Colchester or Southend depending on where you've applied and the course you've chosen to study. Double check your invite or search for your course to make sure you visit the right campus.

If you're an applicant from outside the UK, please email us if you would like to attend an Applicant Day visit@essex.ac.uk.

Accepting your place

Please accept your place as soon as you receive your invitation:

  1. register to create your MyEssex applicant portal (have your UCAS number handy!)
  2. log in to your MyEssex applicant portal, view your department’s programme and accept your place

Your MyEssex portal can take up to 24 hours to be created (but it’s usually much quicker). Once you have access, you’ll be able to login and confirm your place. If you have any problems with MyEssex, email our IT Helpdesk it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk.

If you can't attend

Don’t worry, we have lots of Applicant Days - just head to your MyEssex portal to request a change of date.

Your Applicant Day

Your programme

Some departments will interview you as part of their recruitment process which gives them the chance to meet you and discover your passions for the course, so it's important to attend.

You'll find a brief overview of our itinerary below. A more detailed version can be found in your MyEssex portal.

If you haven't been to an Open Day or you would like to tour the campus and accommodation, we recommend attending the Experience Essex session. If you don't want to attend this session you're welcome to arrive in time for the Essex Education talk at 12.30pm. You won't be able to view accommodation unless you attend the Experience Essex session.

If you're a journalism, nursing, physiotherapy or occupational therapy student then your Applicant Day won't follow the itinerary listed below. Instead, follow your individual programme available in your MyEssex portal.

  • 10.00am - 12.30pm: Experience Essex

Your one-stop-shop to get the low down on life as an Essex student.

    • Information sessions: chat to representatives from Student Finance, Employability, Undergraduate Admissions, Accommodation, Languages for all, Student Support and Essex Abroad.
    • Campus tours: discover our vibrant campus with a guided tour by a current student.
    • View our student accommodation: we run ‘open accommodation’ so you can view as much or as little as you like!

  • 12.30pm - 1.00pm: Essex Education

Following this talk, you will be split into your individual subjects and guided to your department so please make sure you attend this session.

  • 1.00pm - 3.30pm: Departmental activities and interviews

Each department’s programme is unique so to find out what your subject has to offer but downloading your programme from your MyEssex portal.

    Your interview

If you have an interview as part of your Applicant Day, most will take place during the departmental activities between 1.00pm - 3.30pm. Your exact interview time will be assigned once you arrive in your department on the day. Please note, we're unable to interview you outside of these times.
