Short courses and Continuing Professional Development
You can access many high quality short courses and Continuing
Professional Development (CPD) opportunities through the University of
Essex. Our courses are designed to develop the key skills you will need in
your professional or academic career. Key areas we cover include health,
business and social research. Many of our departments also offer specialised
CPD courses.

Essex short courses in social research
Our short courses in social research give graduate students, practitioners and academics the chance to upgrade
their skills in social research methods, This renowned programme of training
events is organised by the Department of Sociology.
Health and Human Sciences
We offer a wide range of CPD learning pathways including
short courses to clinicians and health care professionals
through our School of Health and Human Sciences. The courses are designed to
support Continuing Professional Development and respond to the changing
focus of healthcare in the 21st century.
Biomedical professionals
We offer a
short course programme
for biomedical professionals
through our Department of Biological Sciences.
The courses are for biomedical scientists, clinical scientists, nurses
and health service and allied health professionals.
Professional development studies
The Professional Development Studies team work with organisations to deliver high quality courses focusing on Professional
Development across a range of fields including health care, social work,
business and education.
Business and management training
High-quality, timetabled and bespoke training courses for business and
organisations within the Eastern region. Courses at the
Business and Management Training Centre are run by
practitioners in their specific areas ensuring the courses are practical,
up-to-date and relevant to your business or organisational needs.
Business Hub courses and activities
Breakfast meetings and one day courses are regularly organised
by our Business Hub in Southend - giving your business access to specialist
training, including expert on-site short courses covering every aspect of the
business world from generating website traffic to business finance.
CPD at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies
You can take a selection of modules at the Centre for
Psychoanalytic Studies on a CPD basis and we also offer a number
of other courses and sessions.
Part-time study
Many of our courses can be taken on a part-time basis so you can study

Other CPD opportunities
