You will also be entering the company of many Essex graduates who have
gone on to achieve great things, including: Dr Oscar Arias Sanchez (former
President of Costa Rica and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize); Daniel
Libeskind (appointed as master plan architect for the reconstruction of the
World Trade Center site in New York); Alison Steadman (acclaimed
BAFTA-nominated British actress); Rt Hon John Bercow (Speaker of the House
of Commons); David Yates (BAFTA award-winning television and film director,
chosen to direct the Harry Potter movies The Order of the Phoenix, The Half
Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows); and Dr Rodolfo Neri Vela (the only
alumnus – that we know of – who has been to space!).
