Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship scheme (pre-2013 entry only)

How much is available?

2010/11 Entry

  • 33 £1,000 scholarships for talented students beginning a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex enrolled on a STEM related degree programme (details of all relevant programmes below). Each scholarship is for one year only.

2011/12 Entry

  • 33 £1,000 scholarships for talented students beginning a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex enrolled on a STEM related degree programme (details of all relevant programmes below). Each scholarship is for one year only.

2012/13 Entry

  • 33 £1,000 scholarships for talented students beginning a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex enrolled on a STEM related degree programme (details of all relevant programmes below). Each scholarship is for one year only.

Terms and conditions applicable to 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13 entry

These terms and conditions apply to scholarships awarded to students entering the University in October 2010, 2011 and 2012. These terms and conditions do not apply to any other year of entry

1.  Eligibility

To be eligible for the award of an  Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship undergraduate students must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Candidates will demonstrate academic strength through their UCAS submission, including attained or predicted A-level grades (or equivalent) and must meet or exceed the entry requirements specified in the University’s offer.
  • They must accept the University’s offer of a place firmly by the relevant UCAS deadline.
  • They must register for an eligible full-time Bachelors degree at the University of Essex with enrolment in 2010/11, 2011/12 or 2012/13.
  • They must be UK (home fees) students. Overseas and EU students are not eligible for the scholarship

2. How do students apply

All UK applicants who have formally applied through UCAS for a place on an eligible degree programme by 15 January of the year of proposed entry (i.e. 15 January 2010 for entry in October 2010, etc)  will automatically be considered for a scholarship in accordance with the admissions guidelines and policies of the University.

3. How are successful students selected

The University will offer scholarships to those applicants it considers to be strongest academically. Selection of applicants will be carried out by academic Admissions Selectors, in consultation with the Head of Admissions.

Successful applicants will be informed in writing if a scholarship is to be offered.

Award of the scholarship is subject to the following conditions:

  • the applicant must accept the University’s offer of a place firmly via UCAS by the relevant UCAS deadline
  • the applicant must meet or exceed the entry requirements specified in the University’s offer
  • the applicant must register as a student with the University in accordance with standard procedures

4. Payment arrangements

Payment of the scholarship will be made at the beginning of December, by a cheque or other means, at a date chosen by the University.

5. Use of Data

The names of all those candidates awarded scholarships along with the degree programme to be studied will be provided to the Eliahou Dangoor Foundation for their information.
