Childcare Grant
The helps students with children with the cost of childcare. To be
eligible you must be a full-time student with dependant children in
'prescribed' childcare.
The amount you will receive is based on 85% of the actual costs of
your childcare during term-time and vacations. There is an upper limit
of 148.75 for one child per week and 255 for two or more children per
week. Depending on your eligibility and status you may apply to the
ALF for
assistance with the additional 15% of the cost.
The grant is normally paid to you in three termly instalments with your
Student Loan. You do not have to repay this help. Further information can be

N.B. You are not entitled to this grant if you are in receipt of the
childcare element of
Working Tax
Credit from the Inland Revenue. Jobcentre Plus will not count this grant
as income for the purposes of working out any benefit entitlement.
