How to apply
To apply for this scholarship, please complete an
application form
The deadline for applications is 31 May 2013.
Selection Criteria
Applications will only be submitted to the selection panel if the
applicant meets the eligibility criteria and holds an offer of study for a
taught postgraduate place by the closing date of 31 May 2013.
Scholarships are awarded only on the basis of academic excellence, to
students who would not otherwise be able to take up a place at Essex.
We will use the information you provided on your original course
application and your scholarship application to select the successful
scholars.
The final selection is made by a panel of academic and administrative
staff of the University of Essex. A representative from Santander is
eligible to participate in the final selection. Successful candidates will
be notified by 1 August 2013.
The panel will seek to award the scholarships to candidates from across
the range of Santander Universidades countries.
Terms and Conditions
The scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on tuition
fees for the 2013-14 academic year and cannot be deferred to a later year or
a different course from the one for which you are admitted. The selected
scholar will be required to pay any balance of tuition fees from personal or
other funds.
If the value of the scholarship exceeds the amount of the tuition fee for
the 2013-14 academic year, the balance will be payable to the scholar as a
contribution to living expenses in the form of cheque at Registration.
A selected Santander Scholar cannot hold a full (fees and maintenance)
scholarship from another source.
Applicants may only receive one scholarship administered by the
University of Essex. In the event that a successful Santander Scholarship
applicant is already in receipt of another University award, the larger of
the two awards will be kept and the other released.
If a selected scholar has a partial scholarship from another organisation
for part of the tuition fees, and the combined value of these scholarships
is higher than the cost of the tuition fees, the value of the Santander
scholarship will be reduced accordingly. The University reserves the right
to reconsider the award of the scholarship if the financial situation of a
selected scholar changes following the award of a scholarship.
If a selected scholar is intending to fund all or part of their studies
via a US Federal Direct Loan, this scholarship will be recorded as “Expected
Financial Aid” in the cost of attendance calculation and may reduce the
maximum eligible loan amounts for 2013-14.
All scholarships are subject to applicants firmly accepting the offer of
study and registering as students of the University of Essex for the 2012-13
academic year. No alternative form of the scholarship is available.
These scholarships are subject to availability of funds, and details
given here are subject to change at any time.
