The Student Services Centre
We are planning a new £26m centre to enhance the student
experience at Colchester Campus.
It comprises:
- a new Student Centre to house a number of student services
- an extension to the existing Albert Sloman Library
On the first floor of the Student Centre there will be a ‘one stop
shop’ service for students. The working title for this area is the
Student Services Centre (SSC).
The services provided by the main Accommodation Office, the Income
Office, Registry and Student Support will move here.
As the planning and construction of the new building progresses,
the student services staff are working to design and deliver a
high-quality, student-focused service that takes full advantage of
the new location. This will include creating a new enquiry team that
is able to operate as a highly-skilled point of contact for our
students.
Students are being involved in the design of the service through
focus groups, surveys and workshops, and there is Students’ Union
representation on the
Project Implementation Group.
Upcoming events
The Student Services Centre project is well underway with a number of upcoming events
for phases two and three over the 2012-2013 academic year.

Four service teams will be moving into the Student Services Centre: Accommodation Essex, Income, Registry,
and Student Support.
