Library extension
Our iconic Albert Sloman Library has provided library services to our students for almost fifty years. As our University expands, we are building a significant extension
to the building, expanding our Library by 30%. The extension will enable us to house a collection of 1.4 million books and will provide lots of additional study space for our students.
New facilities
- 388 additional study desks.
- Library expansion of 30%.
- A new 24/7 postgraduate reading room with 42 study spaces.
- Consolidation of the student collection of books on the first floor, which will grow to 42,000 copies by 2015-16.
- Total capacity within the extended Library for 1.4 million books.
- A new Library entrance which includes an informal study area.
- Additional space for storage and access to Special Collections books.
- Two areas for library and information skills training.
- Wireless networking throughout with laptop stations.
