All social science doctoral students will acquire core skills in research design, data collection and analysis, the use of research methods, secondary analysis with data sets and data management.

Enhancing your time at Essex

There are many opportunities to actively engage with the wider research community at Essex.

You will be encouraged to take part and present at departmental seminars and you will also be able to share your research through a variety of knowledge exchange activities.

The departments and centres employ Graduate Teaching Assistants to support the delivery of a wide range of undergraduate modules. There may also be opportunities to work as a research assistant to support an academic's research. These are a great way to build up your skills and also help fund your studies through paid employment.
