Synthetic Pitch

The sand based artificial pitch is adjacent to the Sports Centre at the Colchester campus. The pitch can be used for full size hockey and football, or can be split into quarters for small sided football or to provide a smaller area for training.

The entire playing area is 101m x 62m and the pitch area is 91m x 54m. The whole area is floodlit and fulfils the English Hockey Associations recommended lux levels for national and international standard hockey of 500 lux.

New Desso Forte surface now available!

The Synthetic Turf Pitch has now been replaced with a Desso Forte carpet. The new surface is a traditional sand filled tufted carpet approved by the FIH (Federation Internationale de Hockey) but is also suitable as a training facility for Football, Rugby, American football and Lacrosse.

All our customers, I’m sure, will appreciate this investment in a new facility following so soon after the opening of the Sport Centre extension last year and the new fitness facility, Evolve. We hope you will enjoy the  improvement to the playing surface.
